I am Jieke Shi (史杰克), a 4th-year Ph.D. Candidate and a Research Engineer at the School of Computing and Information Systems (SCIS), Singapore Management University (SMU). I am working with Professor David Lo, an ACM/IEEE/ASE Fellow, as my supervisor.

My research lies at the intersection of Software Engineering (SE) and Artificial Intelligence (AI), with a particular focus on program synthesis techniques for enhancing the efficiency and reliability of AI-powered software. Over the past four years, my work has centered around two key challenges: (1) compressing and “greening” code models to make them more deployable and sustainable; and (2) ensuring the safety of AI-enabled systems across both runtime and offline phases. This research trajectory has led to 24 publications in top-tier SE and security venues (e.g., ICSE, ASE, TSE, TOSEM, IEEE S&P), including 9 as lead (first/co-first/corresponding) author. My work has been recognized with multiple academic honors, including an ACM SIGSOFT Distinguished Paper Award Nomination (ASE’22), an Honorable Mention Award (ACSAC’22), an IEEE Computer Society Best Paper Award (TSE’24), and research support grants from the OpenAI Researcher Access Program and the Google Cloud Research Program. Within SMU, I have also received the SMU Presidential Doctoral Fellowship (2023), SCIS Research Excellence Award (2025), and the SCIS Dean’s List Award (2023&2025).

Before coming to SMU, I received a B.S. degree from Yangzhou University (advised by Professor Junwu Zhu). I also worked as a research assistant at the Institute of Computing Technology, China Academy of Sciences (advised by Dr. Shi Wang).
